Eric Milkulski and Lexie Hartnett are two seniors who embody what it is to be an RCHS Bulldog. They are kind, tender-hearted, persevering, and joyful. This is why many students believe they are likely to be crowned King and Queen of this year’s very Happy Homecoming.

These two Life Skill students are known throughout the school for their kind-hearted spirit and friendliness towards everyone. In Partner’s P.E., Lexie and Eric are always excited to play. Lexie is a regular winner in the game “Geronimo,” a game with four taggers and everyone else as runners. The taggers stand in the middle of the gym with the runners on the baseline. When a tagger yells “Geronimo!,” the runners try to make it across the gym without getting tagged. Eric enjoys “Geronimo” as well, but his main strength is in the football department.

In a poll of about 100 seniors, more than half said that they would be voting for Lexie and Eric. When asked why these two would be best fit for king and queen, answers included, “super nice” “sweethearts” “most deserving” and many more responses full of praise. It’s no wonder why these two have had many campaigning for them to win, even other nominees. One student in particular stated that they voted for Lexie and Eric because these two students would appreciate it more than the other nominees and it would make them happiest. The students who planned on voting for someone else said that they did so primarily because they were close friends with that person and, of course, wanted their friend to win.

When asked how they would feel if they won, Lexie said she would be nervous to have everyone watching, but very excited to know that all were cheering for her and only her. To know that the student body voted for her to win would be a bit overwhelming, but nice, she added. Eric had a similar response, saying that he would be very ecstatic to win considering a student can only win Homecoming King once. If they both win, it would be even that much better for the lovebirds, who have been a couple for almost a year. To be able to dance together on Saturday night wearing crowns would make Homecoming as a couple that much more special.

Even if the results are different than expected, and another couple wins the honor, “It was an honor just to be nominated,” as the saying goes. And isn’t that the truth? We will find out who wins at the game Friday night. Good luck to everyone!
